Hello all, Im new to the site....which is outstanding by the way.

Im not sure if this is the right place for this but I'll ask anyway.

after using the site a few times i decided that it was well worth paying the extra penny's to become a premium member. I paid for two months membership and was doing cartwheels when i was upgraded to the super download speeds of 1/5mb per min. I mean 20 sec to a min to download a large rom... WOW.

But as they say a good thing never lasts... i seem to have been relegated back to 128kb speeds again after only 1 month... is this related to the problems on the home page?

Or does 2 months mean 1 or will it be put back.... oh god please say yes... or is it just a pay again job.

1/5 megabyte per minute is 200 kilobytes per minute, or a huge 3 kilobytes per second.

I personally get 150-250 kilobytes per second even on a regular account. I think it has more to do with your connection quality and path to the server. Have you tried using the other servers and mirror servers for your downloads? Maybe you will find one that works better for you?

internet speeds are highly variable and are mostly outside our control. We do not limit your speeds so long as you are a premium member, however other factors could limit you (route to our server, how heavily loaded our server is, how busy the internet in general is). It should go back up but I can't guarantee it will. The time of day can play a factor in how fast it is, so try both servers and different times of the day.

Cheers for that everyone... I think i have discovered the problem. Since i added a ps3 to my network my wireless router seems to struggle. I currently have a netgear rangemaster anyone got any ideas on an improvement... what is the best cable (virgin media) wireless router on the market

I personally use the Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router. It costs about 40 dollars (US). It has a 4 port switch (so you can still hook up your desktop computers with a wired connection) and wireless.

It's very easy to install. I tried a Belkin Wireless Router, and it worked well, but the user interface wasn't as nice as the Linksys interface.

bear in mind the more wireless devices you have, the worse the performance gets. It doesn't take many before it becomes unacceptable.
