CJ's rant on: Ignorance & Stereotypes

At about 3:30 AM in the morning today I was playing on xbox live and the in game chat had me, another English guy and an American girl.
It was really quite funny when me and the English guy started talking to that American girl, she was completely ignorant and insulting it was ridiculous, it was hard not to laugh especially with our British humour which she had no clue about.

Seriously, people like her are what enforces the stereotypes of certain things, that silly Tennessee girl did not know how stupid she looked, the first thing was that she wasn't even playing properly, in the end she started trying to kill her team mates which is impossible in the Red Faction games, she killed herself numerous times, so it was clear she wasn't the smartest person you would meet on Xbox live. But her gameplay wasn't really important, it was what she was saying and how she was saying we talked funny as we have English accents, when I corrected her to tell her that it's because we all don't have the same accent that we sound different she imitated a French accent and said "It's your *accents* is it?" (she emphasized accents) and then she called us stupid, which clearly was not the case, so we were holding up a conversation and it took her 5 minuites to realise there was two of us and that she repeatedly said we were posh because of our accents, we were laughing quite a bit at her at this point when she used the n word, oh it wasn't the racist word, it was noob, we found that quite funny indeed and then she started asking where we live again, so I mocked her on it and the other guy said, "so where do you live?" and she replied "what are you a stalker", he replied with "nope, you've asked us the same question several times and it's common courtesy to reply back" and she replied "Stop talking posh I can't understand you".
It went on like this for some time until the end of the match. The quotes aren't exact but are quite similar.

Now this was one of the first times i've actually chatted to a young girl on xbox live and she didn't make a very good first impression (but at least I made a new friend with that English guy), now people like this make you wonder what is wrong with people?

What do you think about this?

Frankly, for you to apply stereotypes to people that you meet, especially whether they are ignorant or not, does not make you any better than them.

I find it funny how you point out the ignorance of the American girl that you met on XBox Live and then (with your own ignorance) started thinking about the typical American stereotype being portrayed as ignorant people. Pot calling the kettle black much?

As people have pointed out, it's the fucking internet. You meet different crazy people online. Perhaps you didn't take that into consideration in your analysis at all, did you?

 

I'm not saying that the stereotype is true, i'm saying that she makes Americans look bad and those kinds of people are the ones that cause stereotyping

Once again, you have proven to be more ignorant. If you are saying that one single American girl that you met on XBox Live who happens to be stupid is making "Americans look bad", then you are also implying that somehow, this girl represents all Americans regardless of each of their true personal characteristics and attributes. The fact of the matter is no single person can make their own entire ethnic group look bad through their crazy antics. The same is also true for a small group of same ethnicity as well.

To illustrate my point CJDogger, suppose I meet some fat idiotic British prick who happens be a bigot and supports the BNP. Would it be fair for me to think that 'that man is making all British people look bad' when the fact of the matter is that person is only representing no one but himself?

Whenever I talk to anyone who is from Britain or its surrounding areas, they immediately call me "stupid American" and go on long rants about McDonalds and how we're fat, stupid, and lazy. What they fail to realize is that everyone on the internet, xbox love, or any other type of media that interacts "online" is either fat, stupid, or lazy, so the chances of them not talking to someone who is fat, stupid, or lazy is close to zero.

 

My black family members have all been to prison... i guess that means all black people go to prison and are completely ignorant
