Alright, I got highlights and lowlights in my hair on the 30th of june. So about 5 days ago I guess? I got bleach blonde highlights and golden brown low lights - which you can't really see, since my hair was already brown. Alright, so i already researched a bit on this i understand you cannot go swimming more than twice a week, since the Chlorine can turn your hair green, or the highlights. But, I want to know when that would be possible. Since I didn't get my highlights, more than a week ago - I don't think. So I want to know if it's safe? And I need a bit more info. on how the Chlorine could affect my hair, and how to fix it. Cuz, believe me I love my hair, and are going swimming later on today. I don't wanna be scared when swimming. Please help?
... The easiest option is to not dye your hair if you love it, dying it means to me you dislike what your born with.
-_- Too late to not dye it. It's already done. And i did it because I knew it'd make my hair look better. It did. it looks amazing. i need help against Chlorine thanks. Btw, I need to know, should I wait a week before going swimming? Since I just got my highlights about 5 days ago, is it safe?
I think it was related to chemical or something like that. Perhaps rinsing your hair immediately after leaving the pool can prevent it from turning into green.
Well, I went swimming once and my hair and some of my skin turned green. I just washed it out in the shower though. Took a couple of times though.

Don't worry about it. It's not Chlorine that does it, it's crappy pools. Just swim, and if you are worried, rinse your hair and dry it after swimming. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_causes_blonde_hair_to_turn_green_after_swimming
Really? Thanks for that, but I still can't help but worry. I still need the one question answered, on how long should I wait to go swimming? Can I go swimming now - as My highlights are still fresh with a good 5 days done - so Should I wait a week?
Your hair dresser or what ever packaging you used (if you did it yourself) should let you know how long to wait before washing your hair. I'd probably treat swimming in the same category as washing your hair when it comes to trying to avoid ruining a fresh hair do. But then again, I never perm or dye my hair, so I don't have any experience. But if you are just concerned about the pool water ruining it, and are already showering/washing your hair regularly again, then I would not worry, and would just go swimming. If the pool is well maintained you have nothing to worry about, if not, you just need to rinse and dry your hair after you are done swimming.
Well, I wash my hair with that head and shoulders shampoo. And yes, I washed it about 2 days after it was done. Alright.. So I can go now, then? That's great ^^ I'll just find a good shampoo, and rinse my hair off and wash it after there since there should be showers there. Then I just dry it right? ^^
It doesn't recommend washing your hair with normal shampoos, as they have high pH and will force the copper out of the water and into the hair (causing the green color). Just thoroughly rinsing with fresh water (not from the pool, which can contain copper from the pool equipment) and completely drying it with a towel will help. Like the previous link said, it's the copper that turns the hair green. Well maintained pools shouldn't have copper in the water, but some may. Letting the pool water dry on your hair or using a normal shampoo will cause the copper to remain in your hair as the water leaves, and oxidized copper turns green. It recommended rinsing/drying your hair or using a special low pH "swimmer's" shampoo.
So... How should I check for pH on my shampoo bottles? Because, I can do that now. ^^ And I was going to put a strengthen conditioner through my hair after wetting it a bit, before going into the pool, since I learned that helps. But I shouldn't rinse my hair at that place, at the showers? Which are located in the change rooms in the building.
The simplest way would be to get pH strips to test the pH of the solution in the shampoo bottle. The easiest way to not do any work is to Google your specific shampoo and see if somebody already found the pH of it.
