Or, just a double exposure. That's how they did "ghost" images before photoshop was widely used. I see an image that tried to be spooky to promote a supposed "haunted" tourist location. South Park did a good parody of the Ghost Hunters in the Billy Mayes episode. And judging by what I have seen of their series, the "OMG did you hear/see that!" at every non-existent twitch and flash is greatly annoying. Haunted tourist traps are just as annoying an unreal as these TV series.
