I have a cheat.dat and a usrcheat.dat file in my system folder on my r4 but I still dont get cheats for all my games, even though i double checked to see if there were any cheats there with the cheat code editor. It seems like the r4 isnt reading the usrcheat.dat file because it doesnt show up with a second cheat button, only 1 for some of my games.

There aren't cheats for every game. I recommend downloading the daily updated comprehensive CHEAT.DAT from GBAtemp.net.

Or use my How to Add Cheats to R4 tutorial in the Tutorials section. Above method is hell easier.

Make sure it's renamed as usrcheat.dat and placed exactly where you found it amongst your firmware files.

Try reinstalling the firmware and then reoverwriting the cheat database file.

Remove all of the firmware files you think are part of the firmware, and then reinstall it and delete the default usrcheat.dat. Then download the database file from the link above and then put that in system.

Your theme shouldn't have been removed unless you did the old outdated "overwriting" trick of the theme files in system. See my tutorial to have up to 12 themes.

    i figured it out.

the r4 can only support a certain amount of cheats for a file or in other words it has a size limit of i think 1 mb or maybe 3mb so I think this is the problem.

so im going to look for a cheat file that only has U games or E and U

    thanx for all your help

No it has a limit of 4mb, that's why i use the european version and if there are an cheats need adding, i do add them myself.

The cheat database is basically english only, so U and E versions mostly.
