when I first got myM3DS Simply the "CHEAT.dat" gave me cheats but after the second time I updated it (a couple months ago) the cheat file didn't give me cheats to use and I heard I have to put cheats in the "CHEAT.dat" is this true? or do I have to make my own cheats? I have also tried the "USRCHEAT.DAT" ON GBAtemp.com and that didn't work any help please

R4 has a usrcheat.dat file as well, and that file should work with M3 Simply as they are almost exactly the same. You don't make your own cheats, that would be too hard, you simply take some from the Action Replay website, and import it into your cheat.dat or usrcheat.dat. That cheat file you got from gbatemp.NET must of been the Rayder's Cheat Database. Why don't you rename that usrcheat.dat to cheat.dat and see if that works. If not, go to my "How To Add Cheats To R4" tutorial in the Tutorials section. I'm pretty sure it applies to both R4 and M3 Simply. But since you said you already had "cheat.dat" that came with the firmware, edit the cheat.dat instead and once done, put it back where you found it. Tell me how it goes.

before I was using ricardo's "USRCHEAT.dat" so I did what the tutorial told me and got Rayder's "USRCHEAT.DAT" but it didn't work so I tried the "CHEAT.DAT" that came in the download and that didn't work either I don't know what else to do I put it in the "_system_" folder and that's where I'm supposed to put it I think

Yeah that's where you have to put it so the firmware knows where the cheats are and where to apply them. Have you followed my above instructions yet?

Did you change the filename to cheat.dat instead? Because you know that Tutorial applies to both so it should have worked. You probably did something wrong.

You can try and make a new cheat file, just rename it the same as the default.
