i dont know if i typed the title right but heres the argument. ok, we all earn and save when we get our salary/allowances/commision/how-we-get-money. and we tend to save a lot for future use or those rainy days. but how do we separate those people who save, save and save that it goes to having huge amount of money on their bank account but they are like eating and dressing like they just declared bankruptcy from those who save but spend things on their needs and wants.

Well, I save and spend, whenever got money, but i always spend my money on food and charity, which i dont know if i'm a wise-spender or a cheapskate for just spending my money on two things. and yeah, i dont buy new clothes and wear the same things for months and even years and i dont pay for housing cause i still with my parent. ( family-closeness )

So what are you, a cheapskate or wise-spender? and if possible, defend your choice.

wise spender isn't a cheapskate because a wise spender uses his money to obtain the best value for a set price. for instance, most us are gamers and/or have build our own pc or bought a console. well when we buy them we put into consideration what we can get most based on the cost and the end result from the product.

look at video cards for instance. many review sites often favor ati/amd video cards over nvidia because nvidia are more costly and the performance is comparable mildly to it's competitors.

in video games, it's according to the entertainment values that one can get from one console over the next.

I think of myself more of a wise spender than a cheapskate anyways. For example, I won't hesitate to treat my friends and buy nice things, but I'm not the type who spends big money on electronics/ entertainment/ clothes/ food , etc. I have what you would call a crappy computer, a DS for portable music/movies/games, a cheap cellphone, only a few nice clothes, and almost no furniture in my room. It's not that I don't have the money, it's just I prefer to live on the frugal side :)

yeah, it's easy to spend money when you have money. But, if you're a student like me, you have to be frugal. that means no luxuries such as bathing apes or fancy cheeses. being a cheapskate or spending wise does pay in the long run, you'll have more money later when you're old. just don't bring that cheapskate behavior to the extreme :D my dad is one of those borderline extreme cheapskate type :D

..semi wise spender for me-but since I haven't worked at all this month-I spent a grand on-you guessed it-games!

When I had a job I always had a rule-buy the cheapest games until birthday/christmas time, under $20 aus for me, and make sure you don't spend half your pay check in that week...

I rarley buy much else, occasionally model kits and cloths, but mostly games...

I don't know where you got this from... people don't oversave their money... a little something called greed kicks in to stop people doing this.

People save, it's natural, it just depends on how much you want out of life there and then and how much you earn. I take economics at A-Level currently and the trend is that people will generally save very similar ammounts proportional to their salary unless they get a bonus, or a pay rise. In which case they save the same and spend the extra money they have, unless it's a pay raise, in which case people will spend more in the short term but will adjust to saving and spending proportionaly again.

    I'm a cheap scape..

I expoit loopholes in shop prices-ever seen mis-compared price tags?

I point them out...then they discount it...plus my staff discount (multi brand FTW!)

I can shop wisely as well-many of the games I own are not just classics-but also bargin bin specials..

Pokemon battle revolution ($30AUD) No more heros ($40AUD-common price is 79) and Even got guitar hero 3 with guitar along with my wii.

Total price-$429AUD (back then wii's were $400-this also came with some controller grips and a battery charging kit)

But mostly cheap skate-I scab of mates...

    Got a game I want-I won't just borrow it...I'd find a way to rip it ;D

    Music as well...

Or I just expoit the 7 day return policy at Ebgames-I get a game return AND a rip of it XD

(I do not encourage piracy despite how open I am...say's my pirate patch :) )
