can't remeber the movie

??? ok there is this movie i like to find and get but i can't remeber the name. i know what it is about.
the movie from what i remeber seeing is that there are people who get in a ship that take off in space. thene out of the blue this big monster comes out from space and destroy the earth. after years later like 100's i think it show this teen ( now it geting fuzzy here so beare with me) who whats to get out and explore. as he explore he finds. this girl who whats to do some thing can't rember. there is all so another guy who just wants stuff for him self. but in the end he sacrfice him self to fight off the monster. at the end of the movie they find a new planet to call earth.

if you all can plz help me rember the movie. i rember the picture a bit so if you can get the cover of the video then i rember from there or give me a name to look it up

Seems like it was a pretty cool movie at the time. I seen it when it first came out, damn now i'm going to have to go back and watch it again.
