I was looking around, and I saw the attachment feature in the profile page.

Is it possible to upload attachments to the RomUlation server?

That is a main feature in our forum software. But I as mod haven't been able to do that... also I haven't seen ANY topic where this happened

Well, the common issues have it but it think that the option is disabled.

They will, if they aren't online... how are they able to.

no it is not possible. We do not allow it for security reasons.

    Don't trust the RomU members?...
If you trusted us, would it be?

One of the core rules of programming is to never trust users. You cannot tell a good user from a bad one, so it's not that we don't trust RomU users but it's that we don't trust SMF to prevent bad people from doing bad things.

Stupid SMF coders. Add anti-virus software or something. How 'bout we give it to you, you scan it, then we upload it?

there's no need to insult them. SMF is extremely complex and because we did not write it we cannot be sure there are no security issues with it. It's as simple as that.

    It's not about trust.
Users would also be able to upload trojans and stuff. Or things that could be harmful for the server. Why do you need it anyway? There are enough hosts where you can upload and share stuff. Oh, and it would be a pain in the ass to scan everything manually.

Easier. Some people don't like going to other sites for obvious reasons. Ad's, pop-ups; these are some of the reasons people hate going to file hosts.
How about you authorize certain members? May be hard, but I don't think it would be.
Can we contact them? Suggest anti-virus software in another release?

If I may add... we already have big servers to host RomU so... if we allow this, people will maybe keep uploading & uploading... and that takes up our server space.

    Why not?
Yeah. So really, no use. But taking down those NDS roms, that would've gotten loads of space. Or, do we still have them up, hoping that the ESA forget about us and then we bring them back...

Calo, I am sure a big company like ESA sure has logs so they wont forget us any time soon
