Can using non-computer disc damage your laser lens-as ps1/ps2 games?

...I was reading how the wii can infact read dvd's, but because it speeds up the disc speed it will eventually wear it out far quicker...

So I was wondering, since I use ps2 and ps1 disc on my laptop...can that damage the laser lens, or wear it out quicker?

(it's soo easy to find these old disc, sure I could download them for free online, but my crap download limit does make things cumbersome, and at around 20 bucks a game, who's complaining?)

and wii games are on on dvd's but even if you homebrew your wii and get the program to play dvds (needs to be old firmware to do it) why would anyone even want to play dvd videos on it
