Hello, I used to know all this stuff but then I became a ghost here and I'm no longer in the loop since I...buy all of my games.

So on behalf of a friend, any idea if the 3ds has been hacked/cracked/compatible cards that can run gba roms, yep all he wants is gba roms but im thinking if a 3ds can run a gba rom then the...um...supercard ds2 (?) would be his best bet since that was able to run gba roms without anything else...

Please and thank you, if that's confusing let me know and I'll rephrase.

The only way to play GBA ROMs on a 3DS is by using a Supercard DSTwo.

quick question, can a stock new 3ds run these considering all the firmware updates and stuff?

    No problem.

So, will the DSTwo still work?
Yes. If you are buying a new one, make sure you buy it pre-patched unless your have a normal DS lying around.

    Thanks, and one more question...

Friend is considering a 3dsxl...that'd use the same firmware wouldn't it?

    Yep.
The firmware for the 3DS and the 3DS XL is the same. Same goes for DSi and DSi XL.
