Pivot or easytoon. Both have advantages and disadvantages but in the end, they're both pretty terrible but useful if you just want to make little animations.

You could also try synfig studio, it's a bit complicated and I'm not really sure if you can export anything as a .gif, but it's pretty good.

You can also try this online application too.

i know, for animation, i use PS CS5....you gotta use the warp tool, and save as.....something new i guess.......webdesign image i think? and set it up on how you wanna it to animate, pretty simple, but requires a bit of EXP....

Animation in photoshop is a pain in the ass.

That simple animation alone took a long time to make but I could have simply made that in another animation program i just five minutes. It requires a ton of layers that you have to manage yourself when you go to animate it.

can be, but it can be easy also, you just have to recreate the image (duplicate layer...) and then move it where you want it, duplicate that layer, etc. etc.....

Notice how I gave the guy a proper run cycle. Duplicate layer is essentially useless.

True duplicated layer is useful for coping the background.
I'm trying out Pivot currently. I also tried that online one it's not very good but i think pivot isn't that bad.

You don't need to duplicate the background layer, you just have to keep it on for every frame.

Also, I'm pretty sure that pivot is dead and won't be worked on again by the original author so there won't be any new updates that it seriously needs.

you need to duplicate it, so you can change it how you want to.....

Or you can create a new layer that covers the area that you want to change.
