I can't even get to the menu.. can anyone help me please? I've copied the update files more than 3 times and each time I tried a different update version.

Try backing up your data and reformat your MicroSD, and then download the latest firmware from http://www.linfoxdomain.com/ds/ for your specific R4 (if indeed you have a clone etc.). Then extract it, go into the folder that is extracted, take all the files/folders in there and put it straight on the root on your MicroSD (first folder when you browse it). It will ask you overwrite, confirm and then it will be update.

The firmware you want can be found here:

    http://www.r4iii.com/download.html

Just choose the language you want and save it to your desktop when it prompts you. You're probably going to need to download winrar to extract the files. Once that's done, just add all of the folders to your SD card's root directory. Games also should be added directly to your root directory.

I don't have Ver. 3, so I'm not sure if there's anything else you should know, but I imagine that it's a pretty straight forward drag-and-drop process.

Always download the firmware specific for your flashcart unless otherwise stated.
