Can anybody help me please?

    Well i bought two of these cards http://www.r4dsl.com/r4sdhc_4G.php for my twkids for the NDS. Now i do all of the tutorial exactly as it reads and guess what it doesnt work ??? When i put the R4DS into the DS and power on it just stays at loading and never moves on from that. It does this on both of these cards that i bought so i am at my wits end lol. The firmware i am using i got from here http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4_v1.18_kernel.html So can anybody point me in the right direction to solve this? Thanks in advance.

    you installed the wrong firmware. The cards you bought are actually fake R4s, and probably will not work with the official R4 fimware. Go to www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ and see if there is a firmware for the R4SDHC. Failing that, they may be faulty.

    You'll need the R4 Clone R4SDHC firmware.

    1. I downloaded the firmware R4 v1.18 kernel (English ) http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4_v1.18_kernel.html
    2. Then i put the Micro SD card into the Micro Sd usb 2.0 reader and plugged it into the Pc
    3. I formatted the card with FAT 32
    4. I extracted the files from R4 v1.18 kernel (English ) and opened the English folder and copied the files into the Micro card
    5. I made a folder called Games and put the roms into it
    6. Just plaugged the card into the R4DS card and plugged it into the DS as a normal cartridge

    Sorry for the quick explanation as a i am heading to work now.....

    Cant believe these are fake cards :(

    As I said, wrong firmware. The card will most probably work absolutely fine once you get the correct firmware installed.

    They're not fake really, that's a bad word to describe them, they're clones. R4 carts are old, so other companies duplicated them and added new functionality, you didn't really buy a R4 cart but rather a cart that uses the R4 name to sell itself. Some of them are bad quality while others are perfectly good quality.

    Try to apply the firmware for the R4SDHC cart instead and hopefully it should work.

    Well got the right fimrware and bingo it works so a big sigh of relief :) So thanks very much for the help and the quick replys, god bless ;D

    Many thanks for this post and follow-up! Just saved me from doing the EXACT same thing.

    I intentionally bought the R4 SDHC (2 of them in fact - also for my kids), knowing that it was a clone and not the original, in the hopes of eventually using a larger SDHC card. But then after I received them, I went straight to r4ds.cn and downloaded the v1.18 firmware for the r4ds. Rookie mistake. :)

    At least I read this BEFORE I tried giving them to my boys. And of course, if you pay attention to the fine print, you can sometimes get what you need. The box they came in lists the website for the r4 sdhc (one of them at any rate).

    It's got the latest firmware version for the r4 sdhc, v1.25.

    Can anyone plase help me not sure how or where to post as new to all this, I downloaded my files, converted from .rar to .nds files and they work in my r4 card until it comes to playing teh games then the controls don't work - please help my son is desperate for combat of the dinosaurs!!! Thank you

    I think its the firmware you got for your R4.. what version do you have?

    Damn, I just wish that the R4 team was still alive creating the original R4s...
