Seeing as even the mighty AK cant do it on a DSi, the R4pro cant either sooo. case closed. Mods feel free to delete this topic.

No. DSi cannot and will never be able to play GBA games, and slot 1 flashcarts cannot and will never be able to play GBA games on a regular DS without a slot 2 cart.

I don't think it's yet been established that GBA emulation is impossible on a DSi. For all we know, Nintendo may even sell GBA games via the DSi shop.

it lacks the GBA hardware and does not have sufficient power to emulate them. games sold via the shop would be ported, as mario64 was on ds.

Narin knows his stuff. He's a smart guy. His post pretty much says it is impossible :)

Narin's first post in that thread was made before the DSi was even released.

Well, as I (and others) have been saying, it remains to be seen. If it is possible, then it's only a matter of time...But there are a few hurdles to clear beforehand.

By the way, the only other posts after the DSi release are ones from normal users speculating on what the Homebrew Channel on the DSi could do, if they even get HBC to work on it.

Well, of course it's speculation. Not like there's anything else to discuss yet. However, the general consensus seems to be that it should be possible to emulate smaller GBA games (ie less than 16MB) but not the larger ones.

Speculation from those without the knowledge is worthless though. The only stuff I've read has shown the limitations stopping it from happening from people who know. Otherwise it's just random posts from people saying "Well, it can use the SD card, so there!"

    Edit:
You want a good GBA emulator on a handheld (that isn't an actual GBA) just get a PSP. With the exception of a couple bypassable glitches, it's nearly perfect. :)

I've seen plenty of worthwhile speculation as well as meaningless dribble.
    Been there, got that :D
