whenever I take a first bite into dinner (and lunch) the two joints of my jaw start hurting. it only lasts for about 5 seconds then it goes away. it only happens at the first bite, then it stops hurting when i bite again. strangely it never happens when i eat breakfast (a bowl of breakfast cereal a day keeps the jaw pains at bay). is there anyway i can stop it from hurting?

Do you have a replacement jaw?

Is it so bad that you can't stand it?

Go to a doctor if you can't and see what they say.

Try strengthening your jaw through various exorcises too.

no i think my mom said it's some kind of gland in my mouth that reacts to food or something. i am just seeing how i can take the pain away so it won't do it anymore

Mine does that, for 2 reasons only...

1.Jaw lock-only happens when eating food bigger than my mouth

2.Speed eating-I tend to eat a bit fast and thus my mouth is normally open all the way.

I've had mine for ages, until my jaw falls I just ignore it...but for the normal person see a doctor for professional advice, mum know's best...but doctors know bodily questions :)

my mom WAS a doctor but now she doesn't have any supplies to help fix it. XD jaw lock? yeah i remember when that happened to me (was lying down in the bed using my computer for 2 hours and mouth was pushed right against my pillow, never moved it). i tried strecthing my mouth open to an extent where it just made a loud snap. it hurt alot but right after that, whenever i move my jaw, i can hear some kind of grainy sand clacking together whenever i move my mouth.

yeah ive had a few girlfriends whine about this.
    but in all seirousness
it could be an allergy to something that is making your glands ache.
it probably doesnt do it in the morning because youve been away from the thing that has caused the allergy ( possibly something in your laundry soap ) for 8 or 9 hours.
    just my educated guess

eh forget about it I've found a way to make it stop hurting now. for any people who still want to know what i did, here's how to make the pain stop. I drink about a gulp of water before eating.

    Probably soothes your glands XD.

And the 'sand' is your crushed up teeth my man. I grind my teeth, combined with a soda or two a day, I already need dentures :p. lol not really...

yeah i usually grind my teeth with extreme strength whenever my mom punishes me to not be able to play my dsi or psp for 2 weeks. but i usually will every night somewhere at 1 am when my mom and dad are already sleeping.

I don't grind my teeth when my parents do that to me. I get this blank look on my face, walk into my bedroom, and wonder what would have happened if I didn't flip her off :p.

go see a doctor... the internet, and especially a game rom forum sure is the wrong place to ask stuff like that...

its just a raction to the flavor.
It could also happen when you eat a candy after you have not eaten in about 6 hrs
although there is always the possibility that it is something else
