There's a game a guy named Bob has been working on for 5 years, he first started it on the GBA, and then when the DS came out, he ported it to it. There is a YouTube video. Looks amazing, really hope the guy will get a bloody good contract for a publisher for himself. http://www.bobsgame.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrAYDSTkXgQ
That game is awesome! If one person could make that, there is a hope for video-games in the future, it looks fun and simple
Amazing for a one person project... But I wouldn't buy it... And from his introduction and the captions on the video, he seems like a right arrogant sod, which wouldn't do him any favours in the video game industry
i like the features in his game. especially the NPC part. the NPCs are randomly generated, and you can only talk to the ones in color. makes it more realistic than the same NPC that hangs around in the ONE spot and says the same thing over and over and over, without a skip button. finally, someone who has mastered the camera aspect. no choppy movement, it's smooth, and integrated well. i like how large the city is. its as large as a city should be. i like how there is a lot of freedom in the city, this isn't linear and restricted like most RPGs. you can have fun just dickin around in the city doing absolutely nothing productive. this reminds me of GTA without the random knifings and shootings. oh GTA...I'm going to have to play that again.
Just remember, Bob's Game isn't the name iamlegend, that's how you succeed in the Videogame's Industry as a programmer His ideas are good.
Yeah, I emailed the guy asking him which library he's using. I assume libnds, but if he was using the official Nitro SDK, that would be nice but that's unlikely. but if he got a Publisher, he'd be able to get the SDK for free.
Meh. Where's all the things to keep me interested? You know where I can go to interact with people, even the grey ones? Real life! Also cars stop there, even if it's not a pedestrian walk I'm crossing - Well usually they do. There might be some story or interesting feature, but so far I haven't really seen anything that would keep me interested more than "hmm, that's nicely implemented, oh look! Shiny!"
Being arrogant doesn't help you succeed in any walk of life... Nor does indie development. He's done well... If he's lucky and someone takes notice of his work, he can look forward to a mundane job coding for some obscure development company... My thoughts exactly... It's a great achievment for one person... But nothing special at all
Well, the guy said he's going to upload some more videos soon, hopefully they will show a lot more of the game, and what you can do. But you haven't seen much of it at all, and you're assuming that.
It's great that the guy had the dedication to finish such a huge project... But my guess is, what you see in the video is what you get, and not much more...
I'm not assuming anything. I just think it's cool that he has a lot of different unique features that nobody has really tried. how many games do you know have NPCs line up to buy stuff? that was impressive.
Yeah, but they actually don't really buy anything, they just have some Rand code in them to make them appear in random orders and numbers, and there's no interaction.
He just followed the game he wanted when he was a kid... I hope he get to work at Nintendo.. he sure deserved it
Nintendo needs better developers for the majority of their games, not including the mainstream ones like the Mario or Pokemon franchises and whatnot.
