I dont know if its another same topic or illegal, but i'll post anyway cause it can be deleted anytime.

ok, i downloaded a movie using bittorrent and yeah, it took like 5-6 hours for a 1.4GB movie. The wireless connection was even faster than the wired..dont know why...

ok, after i downloaded the movie which was placed in a new folder, i taught i will get like a .mpg, .avi., .mp4, .mpeg or watever dots extension it will have. but no, i got a lot of zipped folders and files with the title, i dont know what to do with them so i deleted them all.

My question now is, what are does files? should i like convert them or something, or let them be read by another program like quicktime or windows media player?

any help will be fine.. and i can download it again so dont yell at me why i deleted it. ( i thought it was some stealing-virus-program-thingy )

    they probably needed extracting.

Also the wired/wireless thing, the speed probably dropped because you changed connection.

    Extract it.
    That what I do after I download (certain) big-sized movies . :)

well, there are outside files also, i thought the zipped files are the same with the files outside... and i tried to unzipped one of the zipped files and it took a long time, so i canceled...

so, what things should i expect when trying to download a movie? like is it usual to see those many files? instead of like downloading a rom here where you get only at least 1 zipped file?

and when i downloading the movie, i see that its also uploading the same time, i read at the faq of bittorrent that it is seeding- meaning while i'm downloading at the same time, i'm sharing it with someone else, right? i dont have to finish the upload, right?

and last, why is it when i just open the bittorrent without doing anything else, its downloading and uploading things also? is that normal?

I'm really sorry for the question, its my first time downloading a very big file using torrents..unlike those roms which are easy to download and those music files that are like at least 5mb each.

It depends on the torrent. Most tracker sites will let you know what files are in the torrent beforehand, and most good torrent clients will let you choose which files you want to download.
The concept of torrenting is that you download bits and pieces from a number of people, so you don't "finish" uploading. It's considered good netiquette to upload as much as you download, though.
    Yes.

Thank you for the answers! Last thing, why is it downloading and uploading by itself? does that mean someone is getting information from my computer?

And yes, i also read that policy that as I get free downloads, i should return the favor by uploading it or like what is written in the faq, seeding or something like that.

Someone is getting pieces of the files you are downloading/seeding. That is how the protocol works.

Ok, Thanks again! I thought it was getting information about my computer. I was formerly used limewire which was a bit easier to use, but a friend told me its better to use torrent for big files.

    Again, thanks!!!
