hi, i have an acer aspire 5520 laptop which i got for second hand and it seems that i need a password to access the bios :S is there a way to reset this or bypass it? think the bios is phoenix. thanks
Check out the Bios batteries Usually the batteries are linked to the motherboard or attached to it. Or if you are lucky there is a small button that resets the entire BIOS. When you find the batteries it is what controls the memory of the bios, so if you just take it out for a few seconds and then put it back in you will have to reconfigure some things. Problem Solved
because it usually involves dismantling the laptop. He's not talking about the main battery, hes talking about the button cell that powers the clock.
*Well there are only two ways to get passed the BIOS, unless you are hacker* I have two handed down laptops and both of them required me to open up the entire thing in order to find the bloody problem. I found out that the laptops do not have all the same specs; in the first laptop, which is an old DELL latitude model, I had to open it up and I found the batteries underneath the keyboard. For the second, by far the worst laptop, which is an old VAIO model, I noticed the opening with the case clipper that holds it shut has a small reset button that I could use a paperclip with to get passed the BIOS. *Enlighten me if there are other ways because it is a kick in the balls to have to pry open a laptop* Post Merge: [time]1286213277[/time] Exactly
*Exclaimation Mark* Yeah pretty much! I figured laptops are similar to the car companies who brand different models and build them according to their ideas. Even all of the desktop computers are different models.
Loony, why are muppets always chipping in with bollocks in this section.Fuck knows how you keep your composure...... Anyway,if what I said dont work, try to get spotmau password genius. It says it dont do bios, but I found it did IF your cd/dvd drive is 1st device on startup-as it dont work through windows. I think Major Geeks has a list of tools......
