I know and have seen many, many programs for movie editing and making but what program really PWNs? The program that I currently use is MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 15 PLUS. I've started using this for about a year and I really like it because it's simple and powerful. But I've heard a lot of stuff about other programs such as SONY Vegas, Corel VideoStudio X2, etc. So can someone help me on this? WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU USE, LIKED AND RECOMMEND?

I use Sony vegas pro 8, and I'm studying to learn how to use after effects cs4.

There both very good programs. Also, what doesn't pwn is windows movie maker and pinnical studios, but I do like pinnacles studio's special feature "AUTO video maker" which can come in handy to make some quick cheap AMV's Montages or music video's without needing to break a sweat.

but sony vegas is what I use, and I love it! it's pretty easy for masking and making some cool intro's along with special gimmick effects thoe it can't compeate with After effect's.

Another video program I recommend is Camtasia which is not a video editor but can come in handy for video tutorials or gaming, and it's mic feature is pretty good too.

FL studios = Fruity Loops studios
Not a video program, but you did ask what programs we use, and this program is awesome for your video's since you can create your own original beats and not worry about copyrighting someone's Video with music and remixes.

iMovie is really simple, but the result is great...
Then for Pro's use Final Cut Pro & Motion.

Sony Vegas 7.0 is much better and easier than Pro 8.0...

And Adobe After Effects if your super serious about the editing.

There's very little difference between vegas 7 and 8, I have both.

After effects is NOT for editing. it is for producing special effects, nothing more.

Having trained with premiere and used it for several versions (from 6.5 to pro 2.0) I have to say sony vegas kicks its ass every time. Vegas renders several orders of magnitude faster than premiere ever did, and is not prone to randomly crashing like premiere is. vegas is much more responsive to use, even with hours of video on the timeline, and on top of all of that, costs a fraction of what premiere costs.

Sony Vegas Pro isn't bad, but you can do a lot with Windows Movie Maker 6.1 once you learn how to. I had Vegas Pro, but I just found Movie Maker to have more options.

for simple video editing, go with Windows movie maker,
for something a little more advanced, go with Vegas (good for amvs)

It is to some, but if you know how to use it right, then it does anything you want.

LOL, I made so many videos using that program. Hey, it might suck (if you know it well enough and you know what is better) but it;s free (as in it is integrated into Windows! A better Move Maker would be nice)

isn't there a way to change the video format on wmm? because I only use wmm for some file video's that are not compatible with sony vegas, like my camera, which uses MOD files and sony vegas does not apply the sound to thoes videos, but my wmm does.
