GTA.... this just happens to be the most successful video game series ever. The first GTA game pretty much consisted of three elements-killing people, annoying police and stealing cars (then driving them). Those core elements were what made the games of the GTA series so fun and would be part of its success, but later on several other features were added on- for example, drug dealing, dating and doing odd jobs (like paramedic, police vigilante, firefighter etc) are just a few of the things which were added into the newer GTA games. I have only played GTA Chinatown Wars, Vice City and San Andreas on PC, and they were really great. But I was curious, which GTA game was the best out of the nine games released so far? I always play games in series like Tomb Raider, think it's great but then, I play another one in the same series and it's even better! So I just want to know which one is the best GTA game out of all of them and reasons why. Here are all of the GTA games that have been released:

    GTA
    GTA 2
    GTA 3
    GTA: VICE CITY
    GTA: SAN ANDREAS
    GTA Advance
    GTA: VICE CITY STORIES
    GTA: LIBERTY CITY STORIES
    GTA: CHINATOWN WARS
    GTA 4

Remember, many GTA games have been released on different consoles, so remember to include the console you played what you thought was the best gta game on because different consoles offer slightly different versions of the game whic may be better or worse, so yeah. ;)

GTA 4, of course. That's why they make sequels, to make better games than the previous ones.

San andreas-I just prefer it since it was the first of the 3-d gtas...

Or maybe it's because you can alter you chacater in some way, though I have yet to actually play 4-just seen it.

I love GTA 2 even though I could never even beat the first level.

Of course, 4 takes the cake for being the best simply because it's the newest (well actually Chinatown is newer but it's a DS game, can't really compare it to PS3).

Grand Theft Auto III was actually the first one. =/

My favorite one is San Andreas by far though. The level of customization on things was INSANE. I'm hoping the next GTA is similar to this one since IV didn't have nearly as many features as SA did.

I didn't really like GTA IV, I prefer GTA San Andreas.

I love San Andreas on PC- I've never tried GTA 4 before so I don't know what it's like.

Vice City, it seemed more arcadey then SA. SA to me seemed like too many features, and I hated SA's map, there were so many times I had to walk miles and miles and miles and miles.

    GTAIV was a step backwards.

I perfered San Andreas. It was the only one I took the time to beat. GTA4 was... they tried too hard I think. The only thing I like was when I shot a cop and he actually reacted to be shot in the places I shot him, and staggered.
I can't play 3 or Vice City after playing San Andreas though.
    I liked the story line.

hey, if any of you haven't played vice city pc (even though some of you have), here's the link to where you can go download it- *removed, no warez links please*. works 100% fine and no viruses :). I haven't really played enough of the GTA games which I have to say which one is my favourite yet.

^ We can probably get them from net as well. ;)

According to my opinion, it has to be undoubtedly GTA IV ( Jugding by the perfect score given to it myself ), making the action sequences more seamless, accurate and fun. Driving is damn fun allowing you to make swoosh turns, skids and those sort of things. Eventhough it was fun watching TV and surfing the in-game net, I was hoping that it would have been better if we could go to gyms and buy houses. It was way less glitched as well compared to previous GTA's which is ironically not good. :p Graphics were outstanding as well.

Other than GTA IV, San Andreas is also very competitive in nature, surely it was the first GTA that allowed you customize your character and cars. It had the most missions in the series. I guess it was also the first GTA that allowed you to swim and fly planes, which shows that San Andreas brought the GTA series to the next level.

Maybe we can expect the next GTA to have some coherent similarity to Sims. ;D
