Hello everyone, Im planning on buying a dsi and a new flashcart sometime soon so i was looking for input as to what is the best dsi flashcart at the moment. Im currently using a R4 for the dslite but i heard that the r4 team doesnt exist anymore and there are no more new updates which makes me wonder if the r4i is by the same people. Thanks alot in advance!

The R4i is not by the same people. The R4 group is gone. R4SDHC, R4BLABLABLA are all fakes of the original R4. Personally, I've just bought an acekard 2i (even though I will be using it for a normal DS)

Quit R4. That team was shut down some time ago. Any other "R4" cards are just made by imitators who want to cash in on the name.

There are so many better cards than it anyway. That more or less leaves Ezi and Acekard2i.

Acekard2i is the same as acekard 2, but compatible with dsi. HOWEVER, there are so many rumors that surround dsi flash kits

-Nintendo can possibly update firmware and stop these kits from being useable.
-these cards may not be compatible with ceartin models of DSi. (theres a rumor Acekard 2i doesn't work on EU dsi, but does on AUS and JP.)
-The current card boot up in "DS mode", and are rumored to not work with DSi exclusive games.
^These are all just rumors and predictions. The only fact here is that Acekard does work on aus dsi, because there is proof..

So really, its all just confusing. If you intend to get DSi on launch, try acekard2i. If not, wait it out and eventually an updated card, true information or method will release.

    Couple more questions.
If nintendo updates the firmware, would it be on the assembly line or as a downloadable update?
Do other flashcarts than the r4 use .SAV for the saved games? and if not is there something i could do to convert that so i wouldnt lose all the saved data and have to start over?
    Thanks for your help :D

Any forced firmware updates would probably be issued with the game releases and their website. Similar to the PSP, which occasionally puts out new firmware, and the new games require the latest firmware, which is bundled as an install on the game disk and available from their website.

    Try the Acekard 2i.

Make sure you buy the one with the i in the name. Acekcard 2i, not Acekard 2.

I like the TTDSi. Its simple, does what has to be done, and you dont have to freaking go though an operating system to get to your ROMs. Plus, it's cheap.

no it does not. No DS flashcart does, that is why there are DSi flashcarts.

can you mod the dsi to play flashcards

You don't need to mod the DSi.

You only need to buy DSi compatible Flashcards (the DS flashcards will not work).
