Its been a while since i saw a topic such as "best ds game you have never heard of" and i recently discovered Tsumiki (its sort of like an cartoony tetris with interesting graphics and a bit of a story)- if you try it and can work out the scoring system please let me know!
I also really enjoyed elebits and Boing! Docomodake and think they fit into this category.
Anyone else with obscure titles worth a play?

ok, i am confused by the title. how can i know the best game, if i dont know about the game in the first place? maybe do you mean like games that are under-rated? if that is the case than i would say Custom Robo Arena

I think he's asking for the best obscure games.

Oh sorry - i mean best game that you've played that others might never of heard of (not the obvious ones that everyone knows like chrono trigger, zelda etc). The obsure titles that never made the mainstream radar.

Oh, now I get it. In that case, I think these are on my list:

Space Invaders Extreme (and its sequel) - regarded by cover-readers as a remake and not worth playing, SIE takes the classic game to a whole new level. Music is player generated, gameplay is very addictive and fast-paced, and the AI.... let's just say they're back with a whole new arsenal.
Nostalgia - A traditional JRPG with a few minor twists. Airships, magic, guns and swords... what more could you ask for?

There's a really weird Japanese game I was playing the other day. You're a little kid walking around the world on your own with weird magical pets who get into fights with other people's pets, sometimes in government-sanctioned official tournaments. Even the police promote and participate in these freakish dog-fights. After a while their base molecular structure drastically alters, enhancing certain attributes in an unlikely feat of Lamarckism.

It was a very odd game. I can't see it ever becoming popular, to be honest.

I love that game! Bejeweled and an action side-scroller have never fit into one game so well

Agreed. However, Hatsworth has a very steep learning curve.... at stage 2 you'll be losing lives almost every level.
