first whats the best AV out there in the market im currently running NOD32 and im thinking of replacing it for nod32 smart security, it seems to have more options and im running also malwarebytes along with the basic stuff of windows like the firewall.

now fo my other question is asked the support tech guys about forgetting all about vista and installing XP or 7, i asked if it was ok and the guy jumped and told me installing XP wasnt sucha good idea since the drivers for the PC 'werent compatible with XP but they were with 7' is this true? or the guy is just an @$$ who knows little about windows?

XP and 7 drivers are not cross compatible, however if you can find XP drivers for your hardware there is nothing stopping you using XP.

NOD32 is the best AV, however windows firewall is a useless piece of shit that protects your computer about as much as tissue paper would protect you from a hurricane. Use comodo firewall instead.

yes there are a number of them but I dont like them. My view is if one part gets compromised your entire security is compromised.

    I like Avast!.

It's my favorite that I've ever used. And I love the boot-time scan it has.

Running multiple AV programs is a seriously bad idea.

Yeah. I installed one once without knowing what it does, and it messed up my computer until I uninstalled one of the AV programs.

I think the problem lies with you Duncan. To get the most from an AV,or security suite, the user needs to know what he's doing. The recommended settings can only go so far.

im just a windows rookie i haven touched a windows computer since year 2000 im just leaving nod with max security settings like i do with every other stuff that has the option, im asking whats the best AV in order to make sure to know what was recomended to me by other people holds true

Yes,but you dont say if your going to pay.If I was paying, then Id get K.I.S,but you used to get a 3 user kit for £25,now its more than that for a 1 user kit-so Im put off of that. Some banking companies give it out for free to their customers.

For free stuff, you need like MSE + Malwarebytes(real time protection) + Comodo.

And if your set-up is up to much, then it should intercept keygens etc and block you from entering certain sites.Thats what I like about Avast and AVG,they dont get in the way when Im up to some of my tricks LOL.
