It was either an ad on a download page or an ad in microsoft office live's website which is my e-mail and encrypted "if that matters"

    avg reported this.
    www.wackystone.com/counter/index.htm
    js/downloader.agent

the only sites open were a romU download page -ds- and my officelive site.

on second note, the download pages are wide, i never knew the points and all showed up on the right hand side till i saw the scroll bar on my screen. 1040x1500 resolution.

and not many people seem to know this subforum isnt for posting rom problems?

Will need more info, like what did the ad look like and such, basically all of the ads can simply redirect so the real URL is masked, which is a real pain in the ass.

that is the info. the ad never loaded because avg killed it. and that is the entire address. its chinese and adult. i just went to the main site and got no virus warning.

Hmm... strange. I had a Chinese adult ad too, but no avg warning?

dunno, i thought it possible that it was officelive but they dont do adult ads. and the info i posted was exactly as avg stated it.

i traveled to the site real quick to check if the home site had any warnings but it didnt. actually dont entirely even know what is there. is anybody able to look up what type of bug it is? i just read its some java thing.

i wouldnt be alarmed, it didnt do anything, didnt even hit my system. just popped it here to keep the good name of RomU. i praise this site for cleanliness. i was on a site a while back and got hit with some weird thing that hijacked my desktop and had to barely backup stuff to reformat because it became unremovable with several programs. "pc needed it anyway" thats what i get for not running all my security stuffs.

Maybe because the ad was adult...?

i didn't know adult content was actually viruses, they often intertwine but are not one in the same. honestly though it might just be me, if no one else found it. doesn't matter anyway.

point still being, i don't even run virus checks on Roms from RomU because i know they're clean which is why i love it here, my PC does run full scans daily and a resident shield, these also see nothing wrong with downloads. so having issues with ads spoils a lot. thus the reason for making it a concern.

:-\ turning them off, blocking them or going premium still doesn't fix it. And if its from an ad server like adbrite type thing, they might not check what is in the ones they're sending out to people and we don't need bad ads, we don't need scams and viruses.

-hypothetical discussion- i also don't want to unnerve newbies and make them leave here because they see virus discussion but never actually read.

You can be safe that even if an advertiser puts bad things into an ad it will be removed ASAP both by us and by the advertising company.
Also our ROMs has NOTHING to do with the ads, so those will always be clean.

i know, this is why i made the report. you're good people.

and i know this as well, i stated this. its not like a lot of other sites where i have had a LOT of problems and most likely where i got hit with the infection that took me down.

you also seem to be uber exclusive with your uploads. they come from a magical land and are handled b magical people and i know nothing else about them except they cost me points, which i earn too much of.

i honestly couldn't be happier and even recommend this place. i come here exclusively now.

Yes it is a virus and a bad one two well according to my anti virus anyways. This is what spysweeper detects it as

that description leaves out its java stuff. and thats by no means a bad one. ieantivirus is bad, easy to keep away but bad and fast acting. and that weird one i got the other day made it past my antivirus and resident shield unnoticed, without me downloading anything, it must have been loaded into a shady rom/warez site.

well, seph is probably working on it. all is good.
