after uninstalling and then re installing avast (i had installed a new version of avast! over an old one and i uninstalled just in case something could be wrong) my pc now takes a good 10 mins to load the desktop, what is causing this? or is there any chance a malware infiltrated my PC?

could be malware, could be avast, could quite simply be the hard disk needs defragging.

Proably not related, but I'd suggest getting a can of compressed air and removing any built up dirt.

As for Skype, open Run and type in msconfig, then go to startup. Just uncheck Skype and it won't start.

i already uninstalled skype, how do i open msconfig?, and finally the PC has about 6 days old, so i doubt there is any dirt, i suspect it is related to a troll of pokemon online, since it happened after the troll made the client crash (not sure how he does that, seems he got from paste bin some debug commands of PO and it was on savescreen mode).

Is it me or do you just need help with EVERYTHING...

As for Avast!, most security programs are generally friendly, but it takes just that one setting that screws up its behavior and will cause the program to go into Nazi mode, where it will deny any and all changes to the system, including the slight changes on startup. There's been several times that I denied a change in COMODO Internet Security, and it screwed up my startup time because it was denying access from svchost.exe or something vital.

Skype may have been the program involved, but it was probably Avast! denying access, which of course, when a program is denied access, it will just retry retry retry retry until your system bogs down. Clean out the Avast settings, redo them how you want them, and see if that doesn't solve the issue.

You should also be doing standard maintenance, defrags, and file cleanups.
If you haven't been, well, there's half of your problem.

since this thing is new i dunno what to do, file cleanups with CClearner? rigth? and what is exactly defragmenting the hard drive, remember that mine is partitioned (company settings, tomorrow i will see if my teacher can tell me if it's OK to improve the software)

windows has a built in defragmenter, alternatively you could use a program like diskeeper.

This statement right here tells me that you know absolutely nothing about computers.

Don't mess with things you don't know enough about/are not experienced with.
I've seen several topics of yours that are way past your experience level (and past mine).

Also, don't mess with a computer that you don't 100% own. Have the company do all of the messing around, not you.

@isane crazy is not like i am totally ignorant, but yeah i usually dont mess with that stuff last time i messed with something related to erasing old files, the disk utility of windows blew my whole OS, and damaged it so badly i had to format the whole hard drive just to be able to install an OS (not this one, the laptop) and i wont technically own this computer until i have paid 60% of it so it means i will be paying it for the next 24 months, the 60% comes on may of 2013 and it should be fully mine by april of the 2014.

insanecrazy is right though, don't mess around with a computer you don't own, that could get you into trouble.

Hence why i havent done much to it aside installing it an anti virus since it dint had an anti virus all it had was microsoft security essentials and knowing microsoft that thing migth be full of holes.

Or just don't go to sketchy sites, or do anything remotely illegal while on a computer.

I don't have a single piece of AV or Spyware protection that is active right now on my computer. I do occasional scans, and it always turns up nothing. NOT EVEN TRACKING COOKIES!

A computer is only as smart as its user. I stand by that statement.
You don't get infected just by idling your computer. You get it by going places, doing things, etc.
And it's WHERE you go, and WHAT you do that gets it infected.

If you download cracks, hacks, and pirate stuff, you're more prone to infection than say someone who just goes on facebook, or legit sites in general.

Unfortunately that's not so true these days. There's far too many script kiddies out there looking for random computers that are open to attack

I find that most hackers target things not left on your computer, but stuff left online, like login accounts and passwords. A Gmail account is the motherlode of information. It seems like every time I want to login into something that I haven't accessed in over a year, it's almost always needs a password reset. Very annoying.

In fact, I just reset one of my passwords to a gaming forum for downloading Skyrim mods.

a gmail account doesn't usually get you another zombie for your botnet.

True, but it certainly has all of your login information of pretty much anything you've ever used.

Things I can think of are like Amazon (which last I checked once your credit card information is saved, you can just reuse the information without typing it in again), Paypal, and anything else that has monetary value.

Not to mention that once you have access to the email account, you have access to all of the other accounts through password reset. Luckily, I've set up my Gmail account to only allow those with the password that is sent to my phone access.

Haha, I totally forgot about botnetting. I forget that people actually fall victim to that kind of stuff.

thats why my WoW, Entropia and rift accounts are all on different emails that I use only for that purpose.

I do the exact same thing. Common sense, but then again, most people don't think to do that.

tbh my cracked stuff is bougth from the streets since i know good palces were i am sold games that come with their cracks and not viruses, as for weird sites i avoid largeley those, i only go to either piratebay to get torretns, manga sites (mangafox/reader/bleachexile for hellsing) taringa (quite safe) here and neoseeker, so as far as that goes i am covered, and i only use one account, but i change it's password every six months
