What I don't get is, If a file is 80 points, should'nt you just charge them 30? Because you said 50mb is free.
Actually, what's said is that anything UNDER 50MB is free. anything over that costs 1 point per MB. So something 50MB costs zero points. Something 51MB is over the free limit of 50MB, so it counts as OVER 50MB. Which it should. And it clearly says that anything over 50MB costs 1 point per MB to download. so, 51MB (which i assume is over 50MB) isn't free, so its one point per download. 51 points. Same goes with the 80MB example.
ok i was read introduction of "point on this forum", i agree with Stanley Richards, did you think in your logic, <=50MB its free, >50MB its take 1point for 1MB, so in my mind and my logic, if i download 80MB its take 30Points cause i just must paid 30MB left. sorry if my english not well, i from indonesia and i cant speak english fluently regards, darkastroboy i know what is do you mean thanks for your comment
I Understand what you mean and i get it too, it has crossed my mind many times, but it doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon so i just accept that those 50points are just gone. When i was a free member it would have been nice to have those 50 extra points saved every time, but now i couldn't care much less really. I Doubt seph will be willing to change the way it's done though so it's not really worth worrying about.
It was completely intentional to have it the way we do. Very few games are over 50 MB and the ones that are are usually either 200 MB or something like 54MB. Had we done it the other way around and said that a 54 MB game would cost 4 points then the limit would just have been lowered to say 20 or 25, so ultimately you would have spent the same amount of points, you'd just spent it across different games.
I vaguely get what you're trying to get across. Sorry. I'm just too stupid. But if I had to try understanding, Even if you spend example 54 points, if you just lowered the limit, it would be almost the same. right?
I think Seph is trying to say that if they did make it so that for a 54MB game it would cost only 4 points, then they would just lower the limit as to how much is free, to like 20 or 25. So for the 54MB game it would cost around 29 to 34 points. So you would still have to spend some points. ... I think.
According to something Seph said awhile back, the point system is there and setup the way it is to help keep the bandwidth and strain on the servers down as low as they can to save some money in the long run. (paraphrasing) And to help keep people from just abusing the hell out of the servers.
