Well, my situation may be a tad bit different than the average user. I'm actually a former inactive user from the years 2007-2008. I don't recall having any post history and I made multiple accounts purely because of how bad the account recovery was back then. That and the site would be inoperable for weeks on end due to what I recall being legality issues. Either way, I'm not sure if there was a dead account purge or something but if my accounts are still here, I would like to be able to access them again. I had enough points that I could download everything here ten times over because the points would go up every few minutes or seconds. Can't really remember. Either way, my accounts were usually hotmail and unfortunately due to how dead they were, they were killed off my Microsoft and are currently in the process of being available again. I can give a list of possible emails, usernames, and I do remember what in all I downloaded and how many times purely due to my limited interests back then. I know one of the emails is still in the system but alas Microsoft can't changed its character limit with security questions and now General Tecumseh Sherman is no longer able to fit. I do plan on using my old account more often mainly due to the amount of points I can burn. EDIT: Should be noted I only plan on using one of the older accounts.
Account recovery has always worked, points were only ever awarded every 24 hours, you will not have accumulated that many because they stop being awarded if you don't visit for 7 days, and we only took down large numbers of roms on two occasions, several years apart. The site has only once been 'inoperable' due to legal issues. Either your memory is misleading you or you're thinking of a different site. regardless, any accounts that were abandoned that long ago will be long gone. If you think you know one that is still there then give us a username or email to check.
