I don't really know much about roms and such, but I've heard about things that can trim them down so they're smaller? Are the ones on this site trimmed, or if not, whats a good trimmer? And will it screw things up?

EDIT: And will it screw things up SUCH AS ACTION REPLAYS.

no the roms aren't trimmed you have to trim it yourself using a program

I use r4ds trimmer 2.0 which is found on the r4 site

and the trim's are well worth it

Our ROMs are clean, which means it's the raw unedited data as dumped by the release group. Some flash carts doesn't support trimming but most should, it's not a sure-fire process but if anything it will make a game unplayable, it definitely won't screw up your flash cart or your DS.

:D Ok, SWEET. I think the CycloDS Evo works with trimmed...

Does it mess up Action Replay codes?

of course the cycloDS works with trimmed. and it works with patched.

and yes you can still use the Action replay codes after trimming it.

Some games don't work after being trimmed, so make sure you backup all your original ROMs just in case. If they trimmed the ROMs here, there's no knowing if they actually work or not, and someone else might trim it again, which is not good.

Does trimming get rid of cutscenes, music etc? Or just unneeded padding? Maybe I'm just fussy, but I like my ROMs to be exactly like the real thing, the visual and aural experience is integral to the feel of the game.

Trimming just removes the excess data on the ROM so it'll be smaller. It won't remove any actual game data as far as I know.

Trimming does not change the game. For example, if you have a 110 MB game, then Nintendo has to put it into an 128 MB cartridge. When you dump a game, the extra 18 MB is dumped as well. By trimming the ROM, you get rid of the extra 18 MB, freeing up space on your flashcart device. Therefore, the ROM will no longer be 128 MB, instead being only 110 MB.

Excellent. I was hoping it would be less like what I had to do with PSP ISOs, stripping off the music, cutscenes etc until i was only left with raw data i could squeeze onto a 1GB card. Bloody annoying.

you should probably get a bigger SD card for PSP games. SD cards where I live are hella cheap. $10-15 for a 4 GB, (I got my 1 GB for $3.95. cheaper than McDonalds.)

The only problem is trying to find a place that has them in stock...

One problem, however: PSPs don't use SD cards. They use the Memory Stick Duo (and PRO Duo).

memory stick is one of the more expensive forms of flash media.
