Are Nintendo Scamming Me?

Have returned a white Dsi to Nintendo for repair.

'Black screen, Please hold the power button etc etc' everytime something is selected, game, download play browser, whatever.

Camera Accessable from holding the shoulder buttons, thats it. Any hard/soft reset (holding all the buttons down bit) results in the error message.

From the various great help I have had on this board most seem to think corrupt firmware, nintendo service centre say liquid damage? (could be attack of the 3 year old!) Conveniently not a warranty item. Is the any way to query them, if it was liquid damage thought nothing would work, not even the camera. Have had good service from Nintendo in past, am I wrong to doubt them?

    Cheers

I wouldn't say they're scamming you, I'd say they're just providing inadequate service for their customers...

Water damage could damage some components and not others. Which may be why your Camera still worked but nothing else did.

How did it get like this?

That system sounds like MAJOR abuse case by user/previous owner/someone in the factory (it happens) or you done something to it.

You need to explain what has exacty happened to it.

    Thanks for the replies

The DSi is actually my 9 year olds, who treats it like the crown jewells and is always in a protective case. Have had great service from Nintendo in the past (a free wii repair that was well out of warranty) so feel a little bad to complain. Are Nintendo obliged to give me any more details or just take my £55?

Hrm...I can only assume your 9yr may have dropped it or done something WHILE in that case or something else while your not watching, my 13yr brother has done terrible things to his...

It doesn't hurt to ask them, but if you had service done by them before, Im sure you'll get treated right again :)

    Good old Nintendo

Spoken to them, and they explained everything including why the camera worked and why other thinks didn't. Liquid was probably Coke (serious loss of Club Penguin Time coming up for someone in the house...)

Cheers all for the posts and replies.

I have the same problem with my DSI, only the camera works, date and time is 00/00 00:00, when I tried to open any application it give me the error message, I was using the R4i Gold, could be an automatic update the reason it is not working anymore ?

by the way my DSI didn't have liquid on it.

Please advise because I have another DSI with R4i still working, just in case I disconnect the WiFi
