Do any of you think that cheats are good or bad?In my opinion I think they just ruin the challenge of the game.
cheat are always good after you have beaten the game. i wish PS3 have an AR or gameshark or code breaker.
Okay have you beaten Ozma from Final Fantasy 9 without cheating? That's that orb thing you fight as a bonus boss at the floating gardens when you do the chocobo & moogle net side quest. Now that mother was very hard to kill! My characters were all at level 99 & I have all of their best skills learned, but I couldn't kill Ozma until I usede the Unlimited HP code on him. In short, cheats are okay if you only use them to get by the tiresome parts in a game, ofcourse using cheats on a multiplayer game isn't cool though.
For some real challenge, try beating Ozma at level 1... it has been done by several people, so it's certainly not impossible.
I think cheat codes are a good help if you're too lazy to work and try and beat the game... but some cheat codes make the game so much more fun, example: GTA lol, when you can get a ton of weapons and an instant flying car then get instant 5 stars the game just gets a lot more fun no?
I'm torn about cheat codes. sometimes I use them if the game really pisses me off and sometimes I use them for an extra challange but theres been alot of time I will use them on RPG mostly to boost the mirco management stuff or if its a game I want to go through but don't have the hours upon hours to spend on leveling up, but on the other hand I end up ruining alot of games.
People make them so you can use them. It will only ruin the person's playing experience if they use them or not.
I just used one to get a decent lvl 1 Pokemon in the beggining which generally I would have waited until end of the game to get, which is just no fun and quite pointless. But yeah, god modes, uberbuffer's, overlords, asscracks, crankmonkey's, bikefluthers, feathershakers etc. do ruin the game. Unless you already finished the game the proper way and are now coming back for some payback ageinst foes that gave you trouble in the first run, then they're fun.
depending on which way the cheats are used, they can be good or bad. (good)more fun: like said, the GTA weapons, wanted rank cheats makes it FUN! see how long you survive =D or certain cheats allow you to reduce your stats at will, so you can see how you fare against something at a much lower rank (ie. the FF9 thing that i don't know about). or certain games have speed hacks! interesting... a bit weird granted (bad)pointless gaming: such as MASS leveling cheats at the start of the game. makes the game retarded cause you can easily steamroll everything, no? experience, resources, MAX items kind of cheats ruins it at the beginning. take Pokemon for example: if you instant lv100 at the very beginning and do the same with everything you get, what fun is that? (can go either way)grind-remover: self explanatory, used after the main game is beaten for best results. otherwise, see POINTLESS entry above (good)bypass: the definitely GOOD kind of cheat if you're trying out games with protection. otherwise it won't work aaaaand i can't think of anything else
cheats just ruin the game, period. i've had some people here who are self-proclaimed cheaters in some MMORPGs, and not only are they proud of it, they even trash talk other about how much they're better than them. pathetic, really.
Using cheats on non-multiplayer games is okay especially when there's a freaking hard boss that seems almost impossible to kill or a freaking hard puzzle to solve. In multi-playing games, people who use cheats are plain noobs. And yeah, ' NOOBS ' ! Using a trainer or cheat on a game will spoil the fun to some people but it may even bring more fun to other players including me. There's nothing fun besides doing popular GTA cheats like Ammo, Health and armor.
I'll use cheats, but only on three occasions... 1. I've beaten the game and now I want to put some cheats on to spice things up and make a second run worthwhile; 2. The game itself is too slow in terms of levelling up, or gaining new skills, so I speed that up with a x2 multiplier (I've done that with Etrian Odyssey 2, for example, since 1 point for skills per level is way too slow for me - so now everyone gets two points a level); 3. If the game is one of those games that just excel with cheat codes, as with Chinatown Wars. I have, however, done one other kind of cheat usage before. It was with FFIV. I basically gave everyone every ability available in the game, so I could "map out" who would eventually get what. I've never saved afterwards, though, since that kind of thing is never permanent - it's just a way for me to test out the best set up and skills for each character so I know what to work towards.
I think a lot of the time when you use a cheat you just feel empty afterwards. I tried cheats years ago, and it felt like I had cheated myself so I don't use them anymore! There is no victory in completing a game if you haven't done it all yourself.
cheats are actually really good! it helps you finish and play the game. it basically helps you to experience and finish the game. ever play a game and you really like it or you just want to finish it to just to know what happens [sort of how i feel about metal gear solid 4]. this is where cheats would be very useful. cheats doesn't ruin the game experience and there is no catch. here is an example, you can play super mario brothers 1 with cheats, using the warp pipe, to finish the game, but you can still play the game without it and even better play the game without even getting a single mushroom or power-up or a life-up. not only do you get the hardcore challenge of the game but it fulfils the needs for those who want the challenge and those who are just seeking fun.
