Arcade option?

    Hi,
    I have my own smf forum and I saw that you can install a arcade option (flash games).

    With this arcade system users can compete and they can be a champion of a highscore list.
    I suggest that RomUlation would activate this arcade system :)

    Or would it lag to much?

    This site provides roms to play, why a simple arcade?


    Plus it might be a waste of resource...

    It's not about the resources, the forum is not an arcade, it's a resource to get help and have discussion about games and such. It's no secret that the admins least favourite section is the random section. An arcade would encourage the random spammy posts a lot more, and that's one thing we will never encourage.

    There's nothing wrong with being proud of what you've done, even if that's just a high score in an arcade.

    I'm a mod for one of those arcades, it's a small enough site and the amount of work the arcade needs is silly, really not worth the hassle on a ROM site.

    It may lead to spamming or trolling, though.
    Example:
    [User1] plays [Game].
    [User2] has a highscore in [Game] (the same one)

    User1: User2 is an asshole, I bet he cheats in games.
    Some people just can't accept defeat.

    Or
    [User3] wins in [Game] with highscore by a longshot.
    [User3] PMs everybody:
    I JUST WON [Game]! I AM AWESOME!1!111 BOW DOWN TO ME, NOOBS!!!
    Then again, I have never seen someone on RomU like that.

    A site with lots of banned people is not good really.

    Even if it was installed, not many people can play it, especially with slow net.
    Maybe it can slow the site down as well.

    This ruins my theory, but with the spammy post Seph...

    I'd expect idiots posting high score threads every now and then...


    I had no idea the random section was your most disliked, but then again I never see you there (much) so I guess I can understand...it's crazy some days.

    Yup, many banned, heck me being "slightly" bad nearly got me booted :(

    (I only mentioned throwing someone jokingly in a frying pan, and because of the copy cats, I got told I was in a flame war...romU is strict when it comes to that sort of thing)

    We already have hundreds of banned people, I don't think adding a few more would make a huge change.

    I do not see why many people couldn't play it? It's not like it'd be huge filesize so even if you have slow internet you just have to be patient while it loads. Furthermore it would not slow down the site at all.

    WHAT-MY HOME!?

    ...it's the one place that prevents me from spamming the rest of the forum (more), plus like the irc channel, it's a great place to meet friends (on spam thread)...without the insanity or the "no bounds" approach of the irc as it's watched (plus I can't screw up my log in and give my password to the rest of the irc :( )


    Yup, from winning the mods vs user's game, the clone of that (lk vs pa) and the spam thread...plus all the other mildy fun games.

    Works best if you want to chat or you don't have anything good to play, or in my case, waiting in a game lobby for a match to start.
