For Jump ultimate stars, If I want to patch it does the game have to be clean or can there already be a saved file on it?

    a saved file on it?
    it uses SRAM?

anyway, just apply the patch to a clean rom, (if you save it, it should just make a .sav file and leave the .nds file alone)

theres a .sav file on it, its on a flashcart. So if i just patch the nds file theres no harm done?

yes, make a backup copy so you always have an unpatched, clean rom on hand.

^Always best to. Of course it uses SRAM, it doesn't matter about the save, but best to make a clean start anyway. Open up the patcher, load the patch file, load the clean ROM, Patch. If you already have a .sav file and you patch it, don't be surprised if it doesn't work. But it still should.

I have done several patches and I have never experienced any problems with an already played game, then patched it.

It changes the ROM code and hex, so it should still overwrite the old save with the new language changes without any problems, but it does happen to some people.

I'm having trouble patching. I've entered everything and clicked patch but the patcher seems frozen now and its (not responding). It's been like that for 5 minutes. For load original rom I put in an unaltered version of the JUS .nds file, which is on my flashcart. For dps patch i put the 03_05_08 one. And for save patched rom to i selected the JUS nds file and renamed to something else. Am i doing something wrong?

    what patcher are you using?

some require the use of a PPF program (i think its called PPF)
others are drag and drop onto the .exe of the patcher
and others have their own .exe that has a menu and stuff.

its been awhile since I've done the patch. I even have this file uploaded on demonoid if you are having trouble.

also, tell me the filesize when you patch it, if it is less than the original, that means you did it right.

if it doesn't run on your flashcart, then your flashcart doesn't like running this particular patched rom.

You tried patching it on the DS, meaning one or more of the files was on your MicroSD? That would never work, as it's on a removable drive.
