Getting rid of those Youtube ads could be accomplished by downloading AdBlock Plug-in. More than it, you will be entitled with the following advantages when you download AdBlock: Get rid of 99% of ads on the internet, read more easily the pages you visit, and expect pages to load faster. I found this article helpful to you: http://darktips.com/how-to-block-youtube-ads-with-adblock-plug-in/#respond

I'm interested in finding out a way to block the video ads. ABP is nice and everything, but it only blocks sections of script on a page, (and all pages matching that pattern). It does nothing with ads before the video.

You could try NoScript. You'll have to tweak it a bit but I haven't seen any of those ads that play before the videos since.

I don't have NoScript, but I have NotScripts for Google Chrome. What's the code setting for it?

I have mine set to allow youtube.com, ytimg.com and google.com. Everything else on the site is blocked.

Looking over NotScripts, it seems similar to what I've got at least.
