anyone know which controller would work in order to play games with ease, rather than using the keyboard?

Depends on the game. But Logitech makes some nice PS2 controller clones that you can get for cheap (less than 20USD if you don't mind using a cord).

the best controller for pc is a 360 one, all the new games coming out for windows are set up to play on a 360 controller so it makes sense.

i've been through many pc controllers and they all are horrible and take ages to set up on each game, i bought the wireless receiver so i could use my 360 one and it lovely, no setting up and it comfortable.

That's an exaggeration. I've got myself a wireless Logitech controller I picked up for 20 bucks, takes only a couple minutes to map the keys in the emulation settings. Works almost perfectly by default in a lot of games (usually just change setting for my personal preference). I don't even have to use the config software that comes with it.

I have this one, but it acts funny with emulators and certain games. Like in Prince of Persia when going straight forward he'll only walk instead of run. Nice little controller though.

Another vote for the Logitech Playstation clone controllers. The profiling software works very well. I was able to play KOTOR1 100% with the controller after creating a profile. That's a pretty awesome feat. The controllers are very solidly built and even the wireless one is great with long battery life and quick response.

I love my X Box 360 Controller using it for about one and half year with no problem with any game or emulator.
    Mine is a Wired one.
I use Xpadder if Emulator or game doesn't support controllers.
It is not cheaper than Logitech but I bet you will be satisfied by its quality.

Thumbs up to Sachi i was going to say the same thing but yup i use a x-box 360 (ps2 cloned) controller with X-padder which i even use with games like Spore
the only prob with X-padder is its 80 plus minus Megs to download
and can one of the mods give permission to post a link to X-padder?

Yes but due to the project stopping it has been dumped on a extreamly difficult to find server

Edit of the Edit:im feeling rather foolish at admitting after some reaserch and emails the Xpadder project is up again
and you can only get it for 11 euros at www.xpadder.com
