we all know that intel will be releasing the core 2 quad for the LGA775 sockets as long as the north bridge supports either 965p or 975p [some 975p boards] chipsets, but will amd's quad core cpu's still use the existing sockets [socket am2] or a new type of socket? the current sockets for quad core are for socket f or something like that and i believe those are for servers and such. thanks in advance.
I wouldnt like to say. AM2 is not all that old, but they may come out with a new one. They might do both (they did with the athlon 64)
The Core 2 Extreme X6800 is quad core, fastest shit on the market. It's damn expensive too though. I believe the retail price is close to a grand.
the quad 6600 or whatever the model is will have a 75 percent decrease later on this year, q3 or possibly when amd releases the quad themselves [if it does happen that is, seems to be constantly on delay or for server only].
and thats a problem? You wouldn't be the first person to have a desktop with server processor(s); that's essentially what a 'workstation' PC is. I myself have one with 2x Athlon MP processors.
technically we're not a computer company, and we're gods, not underpaid customer service assistants. That makes a big difference, although I'd be the first to admit I'm underpaid
