I downloaded a 5 part rar archive for Sim City 3000 for Linux from rapidshare but yes, it had a password on it and I don't have a clue what it is. Have I wasted my time or is there someway I can remove it or figure it out? I actually googled the link to see where it came from and it bought me to this Ukrainian (I think) site: http://rl-team.net/2007/08/19/linux_simcity_3000_unlimited.html. Normally you'd post the password on the site but unfortunately it ain't in English :, so I don't know what to do.
Did you try copying the password and pasting it into the password input? I'm guessing its that text in the yellow box.
Well to start off, there are supposedly programs out there that can try to find the password by testing each possible combination. As you can imagine, this would take seemingly forever, but I have heard of such programs working for some people. I've never bothered as I assume they are likely bogus. As far as the website you linked to goes, I didn't notice any specific spot where the password could have been posted. No, I don't speak Russian (Google's translation services show that it's a Russian site) so I can't say for sure. However, one thing you might try is using some variation of the domain name. For instance, you might try "rl-team.net". If that doesn't work, try "rl-team". Then try "http://rl-team.net". If those still don't work then you might try this: Google's translation shows that (as I suspected) there is hidden text that we're not privy to, because we're not registered users. I have two suggestions left. One, the bottom of the post shows that the author of the links is using the username "NightHorror". Try that as a password. Many times users make archives that have their usernames as passwords. If that doesn't work, my final suggestion is to register with an email address and see if you can then view the hidden text, as it is most likely the archive's password. Hope that helps. EDIT: Disregard Reider's suggestion, as the yellow box merely states that you don't have access to the hidden text. It is NOT the password.
I got it, it was "rl-team.net". I did try "rl-team" before but since that didn't work I kind of got thrown off that trail Thanks guys! Always good to know you're there to lend a hand!
