Any Original R4 firmware alternatives?

I have the original R4 and since the last firmware for the card i'm using was in 2008 I was wondering if you could use some other firmware on my R4DS card by another make/company.

BTW I am using this on a DS lite.

Doesn't matter as I've now discovered YSmenu for the R4 which still has firmwares getting released recently.

 

Ysmenu is a modified DSTT firmware. It's been a long time since the DSTT had an official firmware update, but the unofficial firmware is updated quite often.

For ysmenu updates

Replace the files

extinfo.dat
infolib.dat
savlib.dat

into the ttmenu folder

Get updates hear http://loda.jp/dsm/ , 20.zip is the newest

The infolib.dat that come with my update has support for world of zoo (E) version

I heard that Bookworm and Bejewelled are dsi enhanced that's , why they will not work on most cards or firmwares

But you can play Bejewelled vr the PC emulator no$gba 2.6a

I spotted this site here with R4 updates since 2008 - http://www.r4li.com/ (is that a real R4 site?)

If so should I stick to YSMenu or use the kernal updates here as I only put YSMenu on my DS because I thought the R4 were no longer making firmware for the original R4?

 

The site has taken over the devlopment of the R4 original kernal, I would not recomend the new v1.24 kernal as its a beta and has a bug in sound

R4 v1.23 kernel 2009-07-05 is the one to use

You can use both firmwares, from my page download

Take out ysmenu.nds and ttmenu folder

From there page download R4 v1.23 kernel , place thease files in one folder and add the YSMenu.nds and TTMenu into that folder to have both kernal v1.23 and ysmenu , just boot ysmenu.nds to run ysmenu

The ysmenu will run alot of games unpatched, most (U) version roms

Games like mario & luigi BIS (U) unpatched, the legend of zelda spirit tracks (U) unpatched
