I just Downloaded ESET smart security on torrentz, didn't like it so i uninstalled. When i try installing AVG now, it ssays cant because there is another antivirus installed. I checked windows security, says eset firewall is up and running... I uninstalled that shit. Then i manually deleted all folders and files of ESET. TRied again, same problem... Is there like a remover or something that can permanantly remove this... BTW, i have Windows XP SP2, if that helps... I also followed the manually uninstall that is on the official ESET website. Still, doesn't work, anyone know why? Any help is greatly aprrectiated.

    EDIT:
I rebooted after uninstallation, didn't work. After i manually deleted, rebooted again. Still doesn't work.

you probably need to reboot before its completely gone.

Perhaps back-up data on important stuff and then restore to factory default settings or try a system restore?...

Probably just need to find the few registry entries that remain.

Look into running CCleaner and see if it cleans up any of those annoying registry entries.

And for some dumb reason... I CANT set a system restore point!! It doesn't let me type anything for the system restore description.  And I can't move on without typing a description for the restore...  The little box where a type my description can't get highlighted.  What I mean is that there isn't a blinking line that signifies you can type.

Woh! I think that you may have a malicious code on your computer from somewhere... Or you may have messed up your computer... Are you sure that ESET isn't a trojan program?

It's not. I doubt theres malicious code involved, unless he pirated eset, its probably corrupt system files.

    Probably...
Well I guess factory default settings and backing up what you need is the best option...

You don't need to type anything to choose a restore point. You pick them from a Calender.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.

Check "Restore my computer to an earlier time"

    Click "Next"

    Choose the appropriate Date.

Follow the instructions given from that point.

Yes, but when I do that... there is no calender... well there is... but it is completely blank... so i tried doing 'create a restore point' and there was a description thing and i couldnt type in it.

Did you scroll back through the months? If there are no points then either you had turned off system restore, or at some point deleted all the system restore points.

Creating a restore point will not help you. If there is a problem, creating a point now will just create a restore point with that problem.

If I turned it off, how do I turn it back on? And I can't scroll through anything. It shows a blank calender with arrows left and right. I click the arrow and it still stays blank.

Well, the only difference between a date with a restore point and without is number. A restore point date will have a BOLD date number, one without will be normal. Just click on the days and see which one shows a restore point (Shown on the right hand side with a Time and a small Description.

To make sure System Restore is on, Right Click on the "My Computer" Icon on your desktop and choose "Properties".

Click on the System Restore tab. There is a check box called "Turn off System Restore" Make sure that is not checked.

Unfortunately once system restore is turned off and you reboot your computer, all system restore points are deleted. They would be permanently gone.
