Currently I'm playing Animal Crossing V1.1 using a supercard Ds one V3 I also got a cheat from http://www.sccheats.co.uk/
the cheats have been working fine with all my other games however when it came to animal crossing it was unable cheat or even go into the cheat menu in game. So instead I downloaded the older version of Animal Crossing but it had the same problem. So if any of you would have a suggestion that'd be great =)
P.S I updated to the newest firmware SP4 and the newest nds.info from the site mentioned before.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you have the right region ROM?

Do you know which version of Animal Crossing you have? Some games have different versions such as 1.0 or 1.1 etc., as they have been fixed with something, like an error etc.

I'm using 1.1 but I'm guessing the cheats don't work for it or something but that doesn't explain why the older version of animal crossing doesn't work the original. I had a cheat file for that too.

See if where you get the cheats from if they have an indication of v1.1 somewhere, on the top of the page, the previous page (search etc on website) etc. A google search could do it as well.

there's a save editor for this game which works better than cheats IMO.

I know for a fact that for some odd reason, cheating on a flashcart for Animal Crossing is not possible. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work on any cart. The map editor won't allow you to run super fast and such as cheats do, but it's still a very useful tool.

with the save editor, you can edit in your own money, golden tools, any item in the game, even the ones that are impossible to get since they are not scripted into the game.

Right. I say you're best bet is using the map editor.

I tried using that, but the thing kept telling me that the save file format is not supported even though it supposedly is.

Mine's a R4 Revolution which uses 512kb .SAV files, btw.

are you using the same editor that i said?

im using a CycloDS Evo, and they use the exact same .sav format.

I'll double-check once I get home, but I believe that it is.

If for some reason it doesn't work with your save type, use the Savegames Converter and change its format. The two formats that I know work are the SuperCard .SAV and the Action Replay .DUC.

Yes, it was indeed the AnimalMap1.8

But using the savesgames conversor it worked wonderfully, thanks for the link, AetherMaster!
