See, unlike game reviewers who rate how well a game is made, a tester actually test every tiny detail.

And I thought my job was repetitive :(

Go to the link for a nice read :)

I hate the games testers who tested NBA 2k9/10 T.T that game has sooooo many obvious bugs and glitches and they still let the game pass...

Think about it hard, VERY HARD.

It's a job, half the people doing it do so "because it's a job and they don't have to care as long as they keep it".

And the pay wouldn't be that high, and most of them would of been people like me (before I knew this), expecting to play the newest games and saying what's good and bad, to find out it's worse than fast food...

Same thing happens in all jobs, even air ports, it's how terrorist and people importing illegal items like drugs and such slip by.

Not always but it does happen.

It's not just the game testers but the whole production team as well. Half the time I wanna cry when playing that game(on the PS2 though) but I'm stuck with it cause there's no other NBA game for the PS2 T.T

And what about nba live-I thought they made those still?

EA had a big hand in decent sports games.

Also the production team needs the support of game testers to find the bugs, that said, they can skimp out and in the end...create trash.

They only made until 09 and errr...back in the old days, say 2004, NBA live was one of the best and we can look past the flaws as they were technological limit I guess. But since then NBA live has just gone downhill. NBA live 09 suck really bad...the players looks disproportionate, you make shots at the accuracy not even Larry Bird can dream of making adn stealing the ball is like effortless.
The thing about 2k9/10 though is that the glitches are so freaking obvious and they don't look like graphical or technological limits or stuffs. It just looks like pure...silliness. I mean...every bball player knows lay-ups are the easiest shots to make and screens are supposed to block your opponent's path, not yours =="

Yeah, I knew that ;D You have to actually destroy every single bug and glitches instead of just playing the game only

I heard it was a pure pain to test tracks on any racing game.
Driving into the rail at every speed and every angle over and over and over again.

The job sounds simple, but I think I'd go crazy from boredom.

Game testing is probably one of the most boring and repetitive jobs out there. It's not what a lot of people imagine "I get to play video games all day and get paid, fun!" No.

If everyone thought testing games sucks then no one would be a game tester and all our games would be full of bugs. So I salute the game testers.

i dont care how many bugs it has if its decent enough to be playable release it rather than slowing production time down by months sometimes glitches can be fun

Just because a game is bugged it doesn't mean the testers missed the bugs ;)

There are some bugs that testers really should report and pretty much have to see.

In a wrestling game for the ps2, if you enter a specific match, and then have the person thats not in the ring get off the ring, the character becomes unusable for the rest of the fight. It's hilarious that shit like this gets through if they even took the time to test games.

being game tester maybe sucks, but alot of game developer\director branch out from game tester. so anyone who which to join the gaming industry can start with being a game tester.

Actually just being in graphic design is one way...

Your right, but that is a more mundane job than working in a super market.

    I'd rather start somewhere better.
