Yes, the ps3 hack had been made, and sony made a firmware update blocking out those with older firmware...a shame...

Now I have no idea on hacking, but my question is simple...

The psp got firmware hacks, so back when the ps3 first came out, why didn't anyone think of a cfw?

I know the insides of both differ, but the OS is simerlar (XMB)...

Anyone wanna share some light on this technical noob :(

The core architecture/hardware on the PS3 makes it nigh on impossible to hack. The Cell Processor is notoriously difficult to program for and most people are unfamiliar with it.

It's not that people didn't think of CFW, it's that they couldn't figure out a way to do it.
You honestly think out of the millions of people out there using PSPs and PS3s, and the thousands using CFW on their PSP, not one thought of CFW for the PS3?

It's like with the PSP 3000 models and 6.20 firmware. It's not that no one thought about making a method to hack and install CFW on it, it's just they haven't found a way to do it yet.

    Fair enough.

I was merely asking about some possible reasons, no need to have a cow trithRR ::)

But I will admit I was thinking about when it first came out, now I guess when it did get finally worked out somewhat but firmware updates have blocked things out.

If only sony got the psp right XD
