According to Nick Griffin MEP's twitter, the EU parliament today voted to reject ACTA completely. It is now dead and finished.

Don't get too excited, I suspect the war is far from over. It's not going to end until the RIAA and MPAA are put out of business and the entertainment industry accepts that it needs to change to fit the modern world.

theres a bbc link now that the media have had time to pick up the story. It seems the copyright agencies still think they can force it through though. They're completely oblivious to the fact that every attempt they make alienates even more people from their supposed cause.

Hm, I wonder what acronym they'll give Internet censorship/regulation in 2013.

You can kill legislation, but you can't kill sociopathy.

    Good news nonetheless.

One thing I found quite interesting was the vote split. Even if all the MEPs who abstained had voted in favour, it still would have been soundly defeated by about 2:1
