Ace combat 3 control problems (ePSXe)

Cutting a long story shot:

Managed to download ePSXe, source the Bios and plugin files (GFX/SFX/ETC) and configure everything to how i want it

Downloaded some games and also started playing some old ones i have to hand

Only had trouble with the first game i tried and that was a problem binding the controls to the analogs which i managed to fix

Downloaded ace combat 3 and now the controls are being screwy.

weather i use analog or digital the look and move controls appear to be bound to each other, e.g. if i want to bank left the camera will turn to look left so i can't see whats in front of me until i let go of the analog stick.

I'm using:
A "Game-ware" USB analog controller
ePSXe 1.70: Graphics - Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.77 // Bios - SCPH1001.BIN // standard sound and CD-rom drivers

Any help would be much appreciated.
