OK, heres the thing. I had to reinstall XP because it wouldnt start up, and my user account was password protected. The files from the old account are all still there, but I can't access them because the folder with the files in won't let me access it. I've tried running explorer.exe as the old account, but obviously its not an account any more. Please can someone tell me how to access my old files? Thanks in advance.

log in as the administrator and take ownership of the folder. Then move the files to your new account and change the owner to your new account (in properties)

right click on the folder and go to properties. On the 'owner' tab, there should be an option to take ownership of the folder. This only works on disks formatted as NTFS, btw

I didn 't have the Owner tab, but when I went on the properties, it said the filesize was 0kb :( is it gone or is Windows being ghey? and how do i get the Owner tab?

its probably windows hiding the real size. to do it, you must be logged in as 'administrator' and the owner tab is under 'security' -> 'advanced'
