Ok so a quick question is I have a pirated copy of windows 7 (working for a friend). I got a brand new computer (built) and I'm wondering if it;s easy to install the copy of windows 7 without updating anything, since if I do, it wouldn't workThe "keys" were taken out, so I dont need to worry about that, so how hard is it? Is it easy to install/configure drivers myself without the help of the update? Help me please. If this is against the rules, then delete this please. Thank you.

allowing it to download drivers is not the same as uploading windows, and in windows 7 you can safely allow it to download drivers. (In previous versions you couldn't, because the drivers it downloaded were broken and would render the device inoperable until working drivers were installed)

SP1 contains 971033, so you can't download that either.

so just avoid SP1 and KB?

So can I just follow this guide?: http://www.buildeasypc.com/sw/windows_7/install_windows_7.htm

lastly, at step 14 of the guide, which option would I select?the first, second or third? How would I avoid SP1 and KB anyway?

So basically it's like a regular installation (Without WAP Key)?

you install without internet access and disable windows update before connecting to the internet. after you have internet, you can manually perform a custom update in either IE or control panel. Custom allows you to change which updates get installed. Aside from containing KB971033, SP1 was at one point notorious for causing severe performance issues after install. Read the update descriptions carefully, a lot of the updates that are 'recommended' are actually completely unnecessary (for some reason windows 7 lists about 60 alternative languages as 'recommended' updates even though they're clearly unnecessary for anyone who does not use those languages)

Step 14: ask me later, then once the install is complete, disable automatic updates completely in control panel. Don't connect your internet cable until this is done.

How do I disable windows update before connecting? Custom update = picking what you want to install/update right? How do I check if the update has KB971033 and SP1? Does it say in description? To disable them, I just right click them and there should be a hide/disable option right?

to disable automatic updates: control panel -> windows update -> change settings -> never check for updates

Service Pack 1 and KB971033 are the names of the updates you don't want, uncheck them, and an option to 'never show this update again' should appear.

thats the one to ignore. Along with SP1.

so it's just a regular installation, but turn off the internet, "ask me later" no WAP Key and finally, do what loony said? That's all? the drivers will be completely fine and take care of themselves?

the majority of drivers should take care of themselves.

Odd windows 7 after installing wont ask you h you want to config the updates?, or you can just click the small flag that is left of the signal indicator, click on windows update and disable it, also for some odd reason i dint needed to downlaod the dirvers, as i am on a simialr situation as the OP (i have a pirated copy of win 7, only since it's more difficult and nigh impossible to find an original win 7 copy in venezuela were piracy= getting filthy rich within a year or two) so i can update, but i disable those specific updates? i am also on SP 1 i did my install offline and not an update (it wiped everything i had on the HDD and made a new win 7 install) and i have not really updated anything.

windows tends to ask you if you want to 'fix' the 'problem' with automatic updates, and if you say yes it enables them. Microsoft only grudgingly give the option of disabling automatic updates, they don't want anyone to use it.
