a new processor

    someone knows where i can get information of processors. I want to knows if the intel core i7 is compatible with my pc, right now i have (2x) intel pentium d, but this is not engouh for the games that i like (GTA4 and FarCRY2) thanks

    Pentium D uses LGA775. Core i7 uses LGA1366. They are not compatible.

    so, what processor will be the best choice for me?

    the maximum that your motherboard can support. for instance, i have a gigabyte p35 dsr3 motherboard and the maximum [the best] that the motherboard can handle would be a 45nm processor or in this case the penryn core 2 quads. of course it depends on rather intel would still support lga 775 and rather the northbridge is supported for future releases.

    pentium d's are aweful. they are hungry hot heads and sluggish as compared with the amd x2's.

    Perhaps you can identify the motherboard you have and maybe dig out some specifications.

    the most you can do best with that is a core 2 duo e6000 series, the 65nm dual core intel processors.

    they're pretty hard to find now other then going to ebay. the cause is the increase in 45nm production.

    if you live near a cex store, you can get one really cheap for less than 100 dollars. but they're used though.
