3DS update query ... R4i gold

    My 5 year old got a 3DS for Christmas, his mario kart game wouldn't play unless he accepted an update, so he did :-\ Will his R4i gold card still play or do I need to update it too? And can somebody give me an idiot's guide on how to do it?

    it will need updating most likely, and should have been done before the 3ds was updated.

    I can't really tell you how since there is a lot of different ''R4i's''.
    Go to the site of your card and download the patch for your card. It's a pretty self-explanatory process when updating your card.

    Thanks Derek. It is indeed a r4ids.cn card with a C on the PCB board. The firmware is Wood V1.54.
    Do I just have to download the upgrade patch from the website onto my computer and transfer it onto the SD card? Or do I need to change to V1.56?

    Sorry, this is all new to me!
