    hey
Im in Australia and was wondering wether the 3DS has the region lock stuff
    at game http://www.game.com.au/nintendo-3ds-console/nintendo-ds/NIN3DSCON
    and ebgames au http://www.ebgames.com.au/search?title=Nintendo+3DS
    the price is $398.00 au
but at an American ebgames website the price is only $249.99 us
according to google currency converter http://www.google.com/finance/converter?a=249.99&from=USD&to=AUD
    and yahoo currency converter http://finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter/?a=1&s=USD&t=PHP#from=USD;to=AUD;amt=249.99
the Australian dollar is worth more
so if i could buy a 3ds from America and get it shipped over would i still be able to play Australian 3ds games

    Nope.

But it'd work out cheaper if you buy the games from the US anyways.

The official Australian price will be announced tonight. I'm expecting it to go a tad closer to the American price. One thing's for sure, unless you see some kind of retraction of the EB price, I wouldn't be getting one from there.

It's been confirmed: the 3DS does have region-lock

You'll have to buy a Japanese 3DS if you want to play imported Japanese games as well, I'm afraid

    And...?

We all knew the 3DS would have region lock, we didn't want, but the dsi had it...infact I saw a girl in the shops last week complaining because her US dsi didnt like the games bought here...

haha you aussies always get so fucked

i say just buy the american one and continue to import the american games.

Sure you gotta wait for the shipping or whatever but who cares when the price is probably going to be $30 more per game.

So what about if, or better yet, when they come out with a flashcard for the 3ds?? Will there be a way pass the region lock?? I know its too early to ask but I want an opinion based on the current hacking skills.... So I dont end up spending on a jap 3ds that Ill only use a couple of times....

I'd wait for some worth while games first, it could take months or years before they get a flash cart for the 3ds.

Give it some time, I have a sneaky feeling that the 3ds is going to be a little easier to crack open than its predecessors.
