So...when I create my model in Blender...,
I try to save it as a .gif so I can open it in GIMP
But it saves as a .gif.blend
    Anyone familiar with Blender ??

you don't want to save as, you want to render to file or export as.

Ok....I can't find Render to File and Export As is only giving me a whole load
    of options I don't want....
    .3ds, .ac, .fbx etc.
    No standard image format....

try going to render and there might be a to file option in there. .3ds is 3dsmax format so export is for sending to other modelers.

Render as or export should be found under 'File' If its not there then use a different program cause that one sounds like its a b***h

In case you will follow his advice.
take either 3D studio max as there you'll simply have to press F10 to render and afterwards safe you pic under let's say jpg.
or C4D there you'll have a special icon for rendering.

Other that I'm not expirienced with Blender but I'm sure that it has an "Render" option aswell for without it making images of youre work should be impossible.

Of course it has a render option....I just can find anything that lets me save my render as another type of file....

I think that normaly the rendered result of your work pops out in a new window.
Well if I'm right than it schould be possible to "save as" that pic in the new window.

    But it's just a wild guess. :(

well heres my first pop at 3D, made in Cinema 4D. Not so great yet lol, still struggling with the 3rd dimension. Anyway this is supposed to be barbed wire.

Well, if thats a barbed wire, you need to add those wires preotruding out of the knots, because right now...it kinds looks like a rope....sorry about that...

Instead of making it like a coil, try to make it stick out sideways, not continuously a coil. I could never make anything better than a circle in 3D.

lol i know all too well what it should look like, its making it look that way thats hard. What i did starts with a helix spline and its not a custom object so its really hard to edit.
